BUTLER REACTS TO KAMARA MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE FROM LONE STAR CAMP

Liberia Coach Peter Butler spoke publically for the first time since the mysterious disappearance of forward Mohammed Kamara from the Lone Star camp in Victoria Island, Lagos ahead of their Nigeria World Cup qualifier adding that the player was one he admired, called, and chased to make him form part of his plans.

Butler bemoaned that the player let him down, let the country down, and let himself down. The English man said the 23 year-old forward absconded from the team hotel ‘’probably’’ after the team talk when the player learned he wasn’t in the squad.

‘’To be honest with you I really don’t know. Mohammed [Kamara] is a player I really admired, called, and chased him to get into the Lone Star squad on many many occasions and we managed to get him.

‘’We chatted and talked with him and he said everything was okay. We did the training session after which a few member of the staff and myself thought maybe he wasn’t really totally focused and unfortunately after I did the team talk prior to the game the player in question probably absconded from the camp after he learned he wasn’t in the starting team.

‘’He wasn’t selected because he was playing against a right back whom I thought was going to cause him massive problems and he [right back] did cause problems throughout the game and unfortunately I didn’t think he (Kamara) had the defensive qualities,’’ Butler emphasized.

The 55 year-old told LFA Facebook page and Spoon TV that he believes in a ‘’golden rule’’ that in modern day football players must track back and defend with or without the ball and selecting Kamara was like carrying ‘’passengers’’.

‘’Nigeria are a wonderful football team with great qualities; players playing in English Premier League, Scottish Premier League, Bundes Liga etc etc…I’m disappointed with Mohammed [Kamara]. I thought he did let me down; I think he let the nation down, I think he let himself down, very very unprofessional and with no explanation whatsoever, so we moved on and drew a line and life moves on and we’re spotting more players to play for the Lone Star,’’ Butler asserted.

There hasn’t been any official remark from the Hatayaspor front man, but a social media page probably belonging to Kamara (Mkeka10) read, ‘’Heard that everyone wanna hear my side of the story. I won’t throw anyone under the bus…in my years as a professional and college student, I’ve learned that respect is a two-way street.

‘’You just don’t demand respect rather have to earn it. After years of turning down the invitation, I blame NO ONE but myself for coming here.

The eventual result from the game was a 2-0 defeat to the Super Eagles as Lone Star prepare for yet another clash in the competition this time against Central Africa Republic (CAR) today in a 50,000 seated Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

The game is a home match to CAR who agreed with Liberia to reverse the order of the fixture from Match Day 2 to 6. A win for either side will blow the group wide open because Nigeria make the trip to the Island to play hosts Cape Verde later without six of their stars who play in the EPL. Kickoff in Japoma Stadium is 5pm local time or 1600Hrs GMT.
