LICOSESS GRADUATES OVER 85 STUDENTS

LICOSESS Graduates Over 85 Instructors in Bong

Gbarnga, Bong County-The Liberian Cooperative Standard Education School System (LICOSESS) has graduated and certificated over 85 educators from its “AA", B” and “C” Certificate programs in Gbarnga, Bong County.

LICOSESS was established by a group of Liberian professional teachers and administrators in November 1994.

The institution was founded with the main purpose of buttressing the efforts of the Ministry of Education to support the school system with qualified and well–prepared teachers and administrators to teach at both primary and secondary schools in Liberia.

In his keynote address delivered at the graduation ceremony of the school on June 25, 2022, the Board Chair of the Bong School System, Dr. Alfredson W. Taikerweyah Sr. challenged the teachers to be ethical as they enter the teaching profession in the country.

Dr.Taikerweyah told the graduates that Liberia can only develop when teachers who are in the various classroom are teaching or presenting students with the proper educational material.

The Board Chair of the Bong School System at the same time told the instructors that Liberia depends on them in turn of improving the educational system of the country.

Also speaking during the graduation exercise, the National President of LICOSESS, Dr. Benjamin Y. Wehye, Sr. said the graduates went through all of the lessons prescribed by the Ministry of Education and made a successful pass.

“They did all of the courses for the "AA," “B” and “C” certificates and as such, we need not waste their time but to certificate them as trained Teachers in Liberia,” he adds.

Dr. Wehye revealed that the institution is currently offering bachelor’s degrees in the country.

“The Ministry gives us permission to offer BSc Degrees, we wasted no time, currently we are offering BSC at our main campus in Monrovia, and we hoping to start the same at all of our local branches, but we will have to improve our various facilities before the Ministry of Education can allow us to extend said permit to our local branches, ” he said.

The National President of LICOSESS further reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to preparing veteran instructors who will immensely contribute to Liberia’s educational sector.

Also speaking to this paper, one of the graduates Solomon Darkai Kollie expressed gratitude to the institution.

“For me, I have over the past created passion for the teaching field so I must do all I can to prepare myself as a qualified Instructor,” Kollie said.

According to instructor Kollie, education is not a waste, and based on that he will continue to learn in other to serve the Liberian education sector with due diligence.

Solomon Darkai Kollie, who graduated with an Associate degree in Mathematics expressed serious disappointment in the leadership of Bong County, especially the Lawmakers for their absence or failure to attend the ceremony.

Mr. Kollie at the same time vowed to lead a campaign to unseat Lawmakers who are not working in the interest of the citizens in the County.
