As the 2023 general and presidential elections draw closer, one of Liberia’s veteran economists and critics of the George Weah’s administration, Samuel Jackson, has endorsed the 2023 reelection bid of President George Manneh Weah.
Mr. Jackson said his decision to support President Weah’s second term bid is not due to the infallibility of his government, but the aspirations of millions of Liberians who yearn for a transition to a younger generation.
According to a Social Media post issued Monday June 7, 2021, the renowned Liberian economist defended his decision not to support the opposition because it is led, mostly, by relics from past failed administrations and the old order.
The tough talking Economist promised to constructively engage the Weah Administration to help acheive the goal of overcoming the country’s development menaces.
In the post,Mr. Samuel Jackson said that his decision to support President Weah is out of political orientation as a progressive who supports grass roots causes.
Mr. Jackson than clarified that his decision is not intended to stride for job or favour in return, but to support a vision that has the greatest potential to liberate the suffering and economically stagnated population of the country.
The veteran economist said he took the decision fully cognizant of the criticisms and condemnations that might generate.
