Three Charged With Gang Rape

The Liberia National Police has arrest and charged with gang rape Mohammad Kamara, Joejoe Tony and Myers E. Dennis in violation of chapter 14, subchapter D, 14.70 of the penal law of Liberia.

Accordingly, on Tuesday July 27, 2021, defendant Kamara male age 16yrs of the Mendi tribe, defendant Tony male 17yrs of the Kpelle tribe and defendant Dennis Male age 19yrs of the Grabo tribe was arrested read their merida rights and investigated.

Base on a complaint filed by Joyce Jeffery, alleged that her 16yrs old sister went out for the 26th celebration and she was given liquid to drink and was sexually abused by three (3) boys in the Christian community area on the 26th night around 11:00PM.

Madam Jeffrey alleged that she was in bed and a man called Moses Jimmy came to call her that her little sister was sexually abused by a boy and he was caught.

She said when she got there she saw defendant Kamara with the people and he said that it was not him alone but rather it was he (Kamara), Tony and Dennis.

During an interview with the victim, she said she and her friend called Grandma went on the road to walk about on the 26th night and met defendants Dennis and Tony on the road adding that she said defendant Dennis offered her liquid called “Big Banana” and they both drink.

The victim explained that since she was feeling drunk, she asked them to take her to her Aunty Janjay house so she can sleep but when they got there the door was locked.

She said it was during that time she fell asleep and never knew anything that happened to her.

Witness Moses Jimmy was interviewed and he told the Police that he heard noise outside and thought it was from his children’s room, he got outside around 11:00PM, he saw defendant Kamara having sex with the victim.

Witness Jimmy told the Police investigation team that he caught him and called his children to hold him while he go and call the victim elderly sister.

He said defendant Kamara informed them that he was not alone but it was he (Kamara), Dennis and Tony.

When the Police spoke with the victim friend, Grandma, she said that she and the victim went on the road and met defendant Dennis and he bought Big Banana liquid that the victim alone drink.

Grandma says they went to their Aunty Weedor house and sat there small, later the victim said she was going home.

She narrated that after a while defendant Tony came and started asking for the victim and she asked him why are you asking for the victim? And defendant Tony said nothing.

Grandma said defendant Tony followed the road the victim went home with and she also went home alone.

During interview with defendant Kamara he told the investigators that he was on his way home from the road on the 26th of July and saw defendants Dennis, Tony and another friend of theirs in front of Lincoln’s house with the victim lying on the ground.

Defendant Kamara said he asked them what happened with the victim and defendant Dennis said that they went to club and she was drunk.

He narrated that defendant Dennis went to the toilet and when he (Kamara) went to check to where the victim was lying on the porch and noticed that her panties was lying in the corner of the poach.

Defendant Kamara said he accused defendant Dennis of having sex with the victim but he denied and while talking the owner of the house were opening their door and Tony ran and while Dennis tried running his phone fell and trying to pick it up, he pushed him and he (Kamara) fell over the victim and was caught over the victim by witness Moses Jimmy.

Interviewing defendant Dennis, he said they all were on the road on the 26th night and the victim and her friend Grandma came to them and asked him to buy liquid.

Defendant Dennis said he told her he do not have money and Grandma gave one hundred ($100) Liberian Dollars and she bought the liquid and drank it.

He explained that the victim got drunk and asked them to take her to her boyfriend Lincoln’s place and while they were going with her they met Kamara who followed them.

Defendant Dennis said when they placed her on the poach; he wanted to go see the girl it was when he (Kamara) was caught over the victim and called their names.

He started that they were going and when they heard their names; they went back and the Police arrested them.

Also, during an interview with defendant Tony, he said the victim came and bought liquid and drank alone and afterward started misbehaving.

Defendant Tony narrated that defendant Dennis send defendant Kamara to buy peppermint and told him when (Kamara) come back, (Tony) should tell him he going to the toilet.

Defendant Tony said when defendant Kamara got back with the peppermint, they went inside and saw defendant Dennis standing over the victim while she was lying helplessly.

He told the Police that he went to make a call and Dennis followed him leaving defendant Kamara with the victim and when they got back; they saw a lady holding he (Kamara) while Kamara was nicked and the victim was also lying nicked.

Defendants Kamara, Dennis and Tony are currently to the Monrovia Central Prison pending Court trial.
