Montserrado CCounty District #4 representative Rustolyne Suacoco Dennis has written a public letter to President George Manneh Weah expressing her dissatisfaction over the delay being carry out by the executive to conduct by-elections across the country. Below is the content of the letter.
Dear President Weah:
I hope this letter finds you well.
I write to bring to your attention that there have been vacancies since the conduct of the 2020 Senatorial election in four districts and that you are aware of those four districts with a total electoral population of roughly 122581 that have been denied their rights to participate in national decision making and policies.
Mr. President, Please ensure to conduct by-elections for District #1, Nimba Co., District #2, Bong Co., District #1 , Grand Gedeh Co. District #1, Bomi Co.
Honestly this is one of the least that I could have imagined that you were unable to do. Many of those creating those voids are your partisans or supporters.
Mr. President, are you angry that you were massively flogged during the senatorial elections for which you have defiled our Sacred constitution by allowing almost a year to conduct by- elections?
Are you running the country based on emotions and or gossips?
I am struggling to imagine why about 8 months there’s no conduct of a by- election to filled the gaps created. Please note that the Legislature is not the fault nor NEC. This is squarely in your domain as Chief Executive.
The senatorial election has been December 8, 2020 and calculating up to August 8, 2021 it’s 8 months since.
Mr. President, this is a blatant violation of article 37 of the 1986 constitutional of Liberia.
More to constitutional violations are
deprivations of the citizens of the above mentioned districts from government
Exclusion from economic participation
*National Decision Making
Social Justices and Reform
Mr. president, I need not inculcate again like I did for Omega Market to be at least brought to human standards. I am elated that you have seen the work and you now working to correct those inhuman actions of yours towards the marketeers, mainly women and youths.
Please act prudently, consciously and in confined to the rule of law.
With assurances of the highest esteem
Respectfully yours
Rustonlyn Suacoco Dennis
