Monrovia, Agriculture Minister, Jeanine M. Cooper, today handed over agro machineries to dozens of Liberian farming groups at an exciting ceremony held at the Ministry of Agriculture’s annex in Gardnersville.
Minister Cooper said, “This is something very closed to the heart of President George Manneh Weah for farmers to have equipment and tools to work with so they increase can their production. Let’s give the President a big thank you”
She said the ministry will regularly follow up with the farmers in their respective locations and farms to ensure the machineries are used for their intended purpose.
One of the beneficiary farming cooperatives in Central Liberia Bong County, Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative (SUAYEMCO) through its representative was joyful after receiving the machineries.

We have worked for so many years with our hands because we could not get equipment to work with. So today, we are among the happiest persons as we are receiving rice mills and other materials to do our farms. We say thank you, Mr. President for helping us through our Minister of Agriculture. We will do our best and produce more Liberia”, said Musu Nana of SUAYEMCO.
Ma- Korlu Kollie a farmer from Gbarpolu did not hold back her sentiments.
“I am grateful to God and also to our President George Weah for enabling us along with our dynamic minister to have farming machines so our women will stop beating rice with sticks, but to use machines. Now, we are going back to our farms to make more food for Liberia”,
Tuesday’s donation had machineries covering cassava, rice and vegetable sectors that include processors, destoners, winnowers, dryers, pilers, power tillers, motorized pumps, vegetable crates, hanging scales among others.
They were purchased by the ministry from a World Bank’s funding accessed within the STAR Project which the ministry executes. They started arriving in components since April this year.
