Liberian Military Delegation Arrives in the US for Annual War Simulation Training

The Liberian Military delegation, headed by Armed Forces of Liberia Deputy Chief of Staff Geraldine George, has officially arrived in the United States to participate in this year’s annual war simulation training.

Assistant Defense Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Sam Collins, said the Liberian delegates will take part in the war simulation training, otherwise known as Northern Strike in the state of Michigan.

Assistant Minister Collins also quoted officials as saying the military personnel from all over the United States and three foreign countries will converge on Northern Michigan this summer for the training.

According to him, the Liberian Military enjoys a harmonious relationship with the Michigan National Guard, which he said has provided several training opportunities for personnel of the Armed Forces of Liberia and staff of the Ministry of National Defense.

Collins further indicated that from July 31 to August 14, 2021, the Michigan National Guard will host approximately 5,100 participants from three U.S. Army components, including the U.S. Air Force active duty and guard, U.S. Marine and U.S. Navy components, along with units from the United Kingdom, Latvia and Liberia at the National All-Domain War Fighting Center.

He noted that Armed Forces of Liberia Chief of Staff, Major General Prince Charles Johnson, has expressed delight over the new role of the AFL, from observers to participants, stressing that those participating in the exercise will immediately be deployed in the West African State of Mali as part of the UN peacekeeping mission.
