Ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has with immediacy expelled Jose Tarnue, one of its Members, who is also a senior staff in the office of Rep. Jimmy Smith of district #2, Montserrado County.
Tarnue’s expulsion follows an investigation that rendered him guilty of allegedly being used by his boss, Representative Jimmy Smith who allegedly received in cash, US$25,000 from Alternative National Congress Political leader, Alexander Cummings to create division within the party.
“His expulsion follows a full grievance and ethics Committee’s investigation that found him culpable of acts unbecoming of a member of the Revolutionary National Youth League of the Coalition for Democratic Change. The report found former youth league steward Tarnue liable for being used by his boss, Rep. Jimmy Smith who surreptitiously received a whopping 25,000.00 USD from the ANC’s Political Leader, Alexander Cummings to infiltrate the CDC and create division within the ranks of the party”.
Said alleged practice, according to them, contravenes Sections 2 and 5 of the Code of Conduct and the by-Laws of the Youth League of CDC.
A press statement read by CDC Youth League’s deputy Secretary General for administration, Hassan Newland on 11 August 2021 notes, “Jose Tarnue and likes are under the instructions of Rep. Smith to reverse the gains the party has made over the years and such will never be tolerated”.
Meanwhile, the CDC Youth League has recommended the suspension of Representative Jimmy Smith and subject him to investigations by the Grievance and Ethics Committee of CDC’s national Executive Committee for allegedly being the mastermind of sowing seed of division in the district among partisans and undermining the CDC for personal gains.
“Hon. Smith has been the one instructing his office staff Jose Tarnue to rain insults on the President of Liberia, the Chairman of the CDC and other officials of government.
Hon. Smith’s action to participate in this devilish scheme is tantamount to the betrayal of a party that made him after several attempts of him being a failed representative aspirant.
Rep. Smith should know clearly that the CDC is a disciplinary entity and that no one is above reproach in the party”, says Hassan Newland, deputy CDC Youth League Secretary General.
When contacted, Jose Tarnue said he will speak to the issue at a later date.
For his part, Representative Jimmy Smith who is currently in the United States on some engagements unspecified, read a WhatsApp message sent him late Wednesday evening by Fortune TV and responded with one word that says, “Nonsensical”.
