After CAF Bans S.K.D. Sports Complex, Liberia Eye New Football Stadium

The Chief Executive of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mr. Mustapha L. Raji has disclosed that plans are underway by the Federation of International Football Association ( FIFA) through the instrumentality of President George M. Weah to build a new stadium in Liberia.
Mr. Raji spoke on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press conference in Monrovia.
The LFA boss said President Weah has started negotiation with FIFA for the construction of a modern stadium in the country, and the world football governing body has committed itself to helping Liberia build the stadium.
At the same time, Mr. Raji divulged that FIFA has also agreed to build modern stadium in each of the 54 Associations on the continent of Africa.
He said currently FIFA financial team is working out modalities with Football Associations in Africa for the realization of the plan.
The LFA boss intimated as soon plans are concluded on the modalities surrounding the construction of the stadium, the LFA will inform the public of the venue of the proposed stadium.
Meanwhile, deputy Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie has acknowledged that although Liberia was banned by CAF due to pitch degradation and damaged facilities, the Country needs a new stadium.
