ACTION-AID LIBERIA AND PARTNERS HOLD TRAINING IN SECURING LAND RIGHTS FOR WOMEN

ActionAid Liberia and partners is concluding a 2-day workshop on Empowering and educating women on land right issue in Rural communties in Southeastern Liberia.
The training is part of a five years strategy plan on equality, Justice and equity that begun in 2019 and runs up to 2025. The project seeks to address the powerlessness of women and rights and economic justices among other issues that affect women.
The project will take place in three counties which includes Monrovia, Grand Gedeh, River Gee and Sinoe counties.
Speaking on the opening of the conference, ActionAid Liberia Programme Manager James Pewee said women rights have been denied for too long when it comes to Land issues, noting that his organization is doing more to ensure that women land right is secured looking at different boundaries as there are conflicts of boundaries in some counties.
James also mentioned that they will train women groups on land rights and work along with stakeholders, experts, community leaders amongst others to ensure that women have access and control in making decisions on Land issues in the country.
Meanwhile the program manager of the European Union delegation to Liberia Maria Arena said that EU will continue to provide funding to support project that impact the lives of citizens in Liberia and the world at Large.
Madam Arena expressed the EU’s heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the partners in making sure that the project is successful.
The five years Project is implemented by ActionAid Liberia in Collaboration with the ForumCiv, Development Education Network (DEN-L), Liberia Land Authority and JSGB and co-founder by the European Union.
Actionaid’s strategy is to build international momentum for social, economic and environmental justice, driven by people living in poverty and exclusion.
They work to achieve social justice and gender equality, and to eradicate poverty.
ActionAid is a global federation geared towards working for a world free from poverty and injustice.
